How we work
The practice.
Sophyra Tutors is run by Joseph Russell-Bishop, Chemical Engineer (BEng, MSc), TEFL-qualified English teacher and Coach. Educational standards and safeguarding are anchored by Natalia Ambridge, former Head of School, International Accreditation Evaluator with the Council of International Schools, and founder of Education Options, a strategic advisory practice for international school boards.

We work with experienced teachers who taught in classrooms long before they tutored for us. Specialists across IB, Cambridge, Edexcel and AQA, fluent in the exam boards your child is sitting and the schools they are sitting them for.

Our tutors are self-employed and are experienced teachers. We follow school safer recruitment practice: we interview each prospective tutor, verify their qualifications, and request written references, and we carry out a DBS check or require a current clean police certificate for those based abroad. Once we are satisfied, we provide safeguarding training for every tutor before matching them to a client.
